Services

We believe that teaching starts only with our growth as individuals. We will be in your community. We will grow when you grow, you will grow as we grow. We offer Pilates, Power Yoga (Vinyasa Yoga) and BB Barre because they work together and support each other.  All three are mind and body focused promoting growth, strength and peaceful relaxation.

Yoga Classes

Yoga is a moving meditation.

The yoga taught at Blackbird is powerful, vigorous, and based in the deep awareness of joining mind and body together. The yoga at Blackbird flows and allows you to challenge your body and mind with focus and intent. You are encouraged to peel the layers away and set yourself free.

Please wear clothing you are comfortable moving and sweating in. Having your camera on is helpful to your instructor, but is a personal choice.

Yoga classes are typically 1 hour.

OUR YOGA STYLES

Hot Power, Power Hour, Party Yoga and Oh Sweet Sunday Classes

Yoga is not only an exercise it is a lifestyle. These classes are all based on heated Vinyasa yoga. Prepare to sweat and challenge your mind and body to new limits. Oh Sweet Sunday ends with a guided meditation.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is considered “yoga for the joints.” It gives the body a chance to gently stretch the deeper connective tissues like our ligaments, tendons, and fascia. Asanas (poses) are held for 3-5 minutes at a time during a typical yin yoga class. Usually, a 60-hour class will only consist of 6-8 asanas! The idea is that while we hold asanas for several minutes, we allow the body to surrender to gravity. Benefits included increased flexibility, better mobility of the joints, increased blood flow, stillness of the mind, balance, and emotional clarity — just to name a few!

Asthtanga Modified Series

Practice the foundation of power flow through the traditional Ashtanga sequence. Use breath, energy locks, and gaze point to take your journey deep into the inner world as we open ourselves up to a dynamic meditation through movement.

BB Barre

Want to be a ballerina or just look like one? BB Barre combines ballet with pilates and yoga. Barre is small isometric movements targeting the specific muscle groups of the chest, arms, thighs, butts and abs. We dare you not to shake. After we work your muscles to the edge, deep stretching will help you sculpt your body. Sticky bottom socks are recommended!

Pilates Mat Classes

All of our pilates instructors at Blackbird are trained authentic instructors through Power Pilates.

Pilates is based on the principle that the first step to a strong sound body and mind is the development of the core. The stability and strength of the core will in turn lead to a balance of the abdominal muscles, the back and the buttocks. Once this is set in place the peripheral parts come into play to challenge the core. Each pilates exercise is a play of opposition. Movement in one direction is challenged by the stabilization in the opposite. This allows Pilates to lengthen and strengthen muscles. Mental focus is key. Learning to concentrate fully into each exercise, focusing on precision and control. Being one with your body. That is Pilates.
